Lockdown: AMORAN reads riot act to members over Robbery, other crimes

Lockdown: AMORAN reads riot act to members over Robbery, other crimes

The Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Ogun State chapter, has said stiff measures await members of the union involved in crimes during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Chairman of the union, Otunba Nurudeen Aina Alowonle who issued the warning in a statement on Wednesday said the transport union would disown any member caught perpetrating crimes under the guise of hunger.

Alowonle who noted that these are tough times for everyone, said people should not use that as an excuse to steal from others and unleash mayhem.

He assured that the trying period occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic would be over soon and normalcy would be restored to the activities of the union.

He said "These are tough times, no doubt. Yet, it doesn't mean we become robbers overnight. Our Union dignifies itself in a very respectable manner. We would not hesitate to deal severely with any member caught involved in any criminal activity of any kind. We would disassociate ourselves from such member and ensure such errant person is made to face the full wrath of the law."

He however urged members of the union to obey government directives on the Lockdown schedules in all parts of the State.

Alowonle also admonished them to be good and patriotic Nigerians by supporting communal efforts in the area of security, as that would mark the union out as a responsible one.
