Lockdown Easing : AMORAN BOT Chairman enjoins transport unions on strict adherence to guidelines

ABEAOKUTA - The Board of trustee Chairman of Articulate Motorcycle Riders and Owners Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State, Alh. Wale Ajiboye popularly known as MTN, has called on members of the Union and indeed, the general public to stay put to the safety measures reeled out by government and health authorities towards curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic as they return to their day to day activities for the first time in more than six weeks after stringent measures were imposed.

Ajiboye in his statement, explained that the people must realise that compliance has a direct bearing with their own safety and that of their loved ones.

'I wish to appeal to members of various transport unions in Ogun State, AMORAN in particular and the general public to strictly adhere to the set safety measures and existing guidelines by the State government to combat COVID-19.

The wearing of face masks is still mandatory. Also, only one passenger is still allowed for motorcycles. The 8.00pm to 6.00am curfew is still in place too. Our members are enjoined to take keen note of this even while discharging their duties, to avoid violating any of the guidelines as anyone caught would be met with appropriate penalties. We should realise that the easing of the lockdown is not a license to believe the disease is over', Ajiboye said.

Finally, he assured that the leadership of the Union is brainstorming on setting up a task force across the twenty local government areas in the State, which will ensure the proper enforcement of these guidelines. He said this would be done to complement the efforts of the State government bringing violators of fhe guidelines to book.

Alhaji Wale Ajiboye (MTN) is the former Boss of Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State and the incumbent BOT Chairman of the Union.
