34th Lisabi Festival : Alowonle felicitates with Alake and the good people of Ẹ̀gbá land

34th Lisabi Festival : Alowonle felicitates with Alake and the good people of Ẹ̀gbá land

The Chairman, Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Otunba Nurudeen Aina has sent his hearty felicitation message to the Alake of Egbaland, HRM, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo (Okukenu IV), all Obas in Egba and the good people of Egbaland on the occasion of this year's Lisabi Day festival.

Alowonle, in a statement made available by his media team paid glowing tribute to Lisabi, the great Egba warrior on whose blood, toil and ideals the festival was established.

"On behalf of all State executives, BOT, and members of AMORAN in Ogun, I felicitate with the Alake of Egbaland, HRM, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and the good people of Egbaland on the annual Lisabi festival.

It is most fitting and appropriate for me to convey my warmest tribute to the celebrated hero, Lisabi, for his selflessness and bravery which has earned Egba an identity for so many years. I have no doubt that this year's festival will help to reinvigorate the communal spirit, discipline and sustained hard work for the betterment and advancement of Egba. I wish His Royal Majesty a glorious celebration, excellent health and the divine wisdom to continue to lead Egbaland to greatness", Alowonle said.

The Lisabi festival commemorates the celebration of the Egba hero called Lisabi. Lisabi is known as a great warrior who fought assiduously for the peaceful settlement of the Egba people during the intertribal wars around the 1930.

History has revealed that Lisabi, the great Egba hero, did not die but intentionally vanished into the earth in a forest between Maroko and Abatan villages in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area; the place is now known as Lisabi forest.

The forest is bounded in the west of the Ogun River and in the south of Tegbelu stream. Lisabi festival is an annual event held in the month of March amidst pomp and pageantry. The festival attracts visitors and tourists from far and near.
