35TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY : Motorcycle riders shut down Sagamu for Alowonle

It was the 35th annual celebration of Sagamu day and as expected, sons and daughters of the town trooped in in their large numbers to grace the usually remarkable occasion. Activities for the fiesta reportedly began on Thursday, 24th of October, 2019 with series of programmes.

A reputable son of the town who is currently vying for the  Chairmanship position of Amalgamated Motorcyle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN) in Ogun State, Otunba Nurudeen Aina (Alowonle) was equally on ground and became the centre of attraction.  In an apparent show of strength, Alowonle made a grand entry to the event with hundreds of motorcycle riders drumming support for him.

In a rare manner, he had initially distributed helmets to commercial riders across Remo federal constituency.  According to him, this is to further see to the welfare of the riders since the helmet is a safety tool, used by the commercial riders. This, as attested to by the riders is first of its kind and a rare show of love by Otunba Nurudeen. It was reported that such kind gesture has not been meted out to riders in Ogun State before.  They further expressed that it is a pointer to the fact that Alowonle would be a right peg in the right hole if (by God's grace) he emerges as the State Chairman of AMORAN in Ogun State.

In his address, Otunba Aina said his topmost priority is to see to the welfare and safety of the motorcycle riders in Ogun State. He noted that other measures would be put in place to tighten the belt of safety. Another major highlight of the event was his donation of a huge amount of money to the Sagamu Development Association (S D A). This was greeted with applause and encomiums by everyone present at the event especially the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and former governor of Ogun State, H.E, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Alh. Nurudeed Aina, otherwise known as ALOWONLE is a sagamu-born business mogul, transport union maestro and a leading aspirant to the office of the Chairman of Amalgamation of Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN, Ogun State Chapter).

Ogun APC Youth Wing Passes Vote of Confidence on Abiodun, says he’s not slow

WE ARE YOUTHFUL, USEFUL AND DAPOFULL

Yellow colour choked the air as multitude of the All Progressive Congress APC Ogun state youth wing had their annual general meeting at the party Secretariat, Iyana Mortuary Abeokuta.

Light music rented the atmosphere and was complemented by melodious rhythm coming from the bata drummers who are in their troupe to eulogize dignitaries attending the occasion.

The meeting which was staged to rekindle the youth support for the sitting government, draws youthful political gladiators in their hundreds as well as notable party leaders, some of whom are; Hon. Biyi, Engr. Ayo Olubori, Hon. Afuape, Com.Rasheed Aroboto, Hon. Adewale Aka Dickson, Com. Michael Aderenle, Com. Afuye, Com. Simeon Akogun, Com. Elele, Com. Olushola Jacobs and many others whose name weren't listed.

At the nick of the scheduled time, the occasion was unsealed with a press conference granted by the committee of the AGM and spearheaded by the number one leader of Ogun state youth agenda, Com. Rasheed Aroboto who is also the current vice chairman of Dapo Abiodun Like minds; the largest supporting platform of Prince Dapo Abiodun Mfr in Ogun state.

Right immediately after the briefing, the able youth well represented gave accolade to the granted conference for a seemingly favourable consideration of the well highlighted, issues being pin pointed during the press briefing.

Mr. Lekan Olude SSA on Job Creation and youth development, as well as Dr. Ms Angel a young lady who is in charge of the state's anchors borrower scheme, ascertained the Governors' interest in the youth by both listing out the administrations' plans for the creation of jobs and empowerment which will be of immense benefit to the youth and the entire state populace, thereby making themselves an example of youth inclusiveness in the present administration.

In response to party faithful grievances, party executives highlighted some of the well patterned plan the Governor had long scripted, to ease their (youth) sufferings but which seems unnoticed by the attendees. This was endorsed with a vote of confidence passed by all youth, party members and party executives present. A vote of confidence that "Prince Dapo Abiodun Mfr, the Executive Governor Of Ogun State will certainly Deliver".

Hon. Afuape in his own submission, ease the heated tension of the party members on Transport union matters and assured them of "a party loyalist Union leader" in the terrain of Ogun state transport Unions.

Taking the youth aback on how the gubernatorial race which yielded good result started, Hon. Biyi the consultant to the Governor on political affairs, eloquently added sweetness to the discussion by putting smiles on the wrinkled faces of the attendees.

In the close of the General meeting, the APC Ogun chapter party Secretary, Engr. Ayo Olubori, admonished and advised the youthful populace on their need to be patient and act according to the party tenet.
" you are all responsible youth, please kindly desist from bad use of the social media in propagating your grievances, use the right channels and I am sure your voice will be heard" he beseeched.

The Annual general meeting of the All Progressive Congress, Ogun chapter Youth wing held today was a success, with our trust in God, party leaders and the state Governor, there is an assurance that our voices will be loudly heard.

Igbega Ipinle Ogun... Ajose wa ni.

OGUN STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE - ABIODUN

OGUN STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE - ABIODUN

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has disclosed that the Ogun State Waste Management Agency, which was recently approved by the State House of Assembly, will be more effective and will increase the revenue drive of government through proper waste management.

Prince Dapo Abiodun, who made this known at the last lap of town hall meetings on the 2020 Budget and Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) 2020-2022 for Ogun Central Senatorial District, held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, said that the decision was arrived at because the state was not gaining from its huge investment in waste management, adding that the State Government opted to send a bill to the State House of Assembly for the creation of the agency.

"We decided to set up what we call the Ogun State Waste Management Agency, because when we came in, we had the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) in the Ministry of Environment, but we realised the fact that there were gaps, that the agency was not effective. We saw what obtained in other states. We saw how much revenue was being generated from it.

"We were not gaining from it, despite investing in it, so we decided not to reinvest in it. So we sent a bill to the House of Assembly and the House has graciously approved it and we now have the Ogun State Waste Management Agency, which will be headed by an experienced person," he said.

Abiodun also assured the people of the senatorial district that they would begin to see the huge difference in waste management, adding that the success of the new waste management agency will depend on their support.

"You will begin to see the difference in waste management in our big cities. It is going to be a partnership - what we call PSP - so we are not importing anything. It is you that will join hands with us to help the agency succeed," he said.

The governor also hinted that government would be looking at the Physical Planning Ministry, with the aim of introducing reforms that will help ensure better planning of the environment, adding that government would set up a few agencies within the ministry to look at building plans, permits and issues relating to drainages in the state.

"We are looking at the Physical Planning Ministry. We will also be introducing some reforms that will help us ensure that we are better planned, because there is haphazard development all over the whole place. We are going to have different agencies in the Physical Planning Ministry to look at building permits, plans and issues relating to drainages, among other issues," he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Consultant to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan assured the people that government is committed to giving them good governance, adding that the dividends of democracy will be efficiently delivered.

RE : A letter to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State by Remo APC Youths

Our attention has been drawn to a puerile, vacuous and irritable letter, signed by one Comrade Adebayo Adetowubo regarding the Caretaker Committee's leadership in Sagamu local government.

Ordinarily, we would have loved to give a robust engagement to the statement if it had any meaningful point but most unfortunately, the statement is empty and a mere reactionary effort by the author to justify his illusionary and feasibly nonexistent position.

We assume that the poisonous chalice addressed to the governor is a reaction to the peaceful manner in which the activities of transport union, especially AMORAN has been conducted since the present Caretaker Chairman took over the affairs of the Association. For the purpose of the general public, we wish to unequivocally maintain that the Caretaker Committee in Sagamu local government is doing wonderfully well and harbours no rancour. The Caretaker Chairman is a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who worked assiduously for the emergence of the incumbent government. Ever since he was appointed, he ensured that everyone is carried along. There are nine branches in Sagamu local government and we can boastfully tell the general public that these branches are headed by core members of the Party.  We urge everyone seeking to know the fact, to do their findings properly and see if this is true or not.

The oneness of APC youths in Remo Federal constituency is under no contention.  Not minding the pretensions of the author and his cheerleaders to this, we wish to allay the fears and distraction such misleading report must have caused his Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the general public. We equally advise the writer to desist from this continuous penchant to denigrate the Caretaker Committee's leadership in Sagamu local government at the slightest opportunity. If there's anything the person wishes to know, he/she should be free to ask from the Committee's leadership rather than going the cheap and worn-out route of character assassination to gain unsustainable political sympathy.

Lastly, we wish to convey our wholehearted well-done message to Prince Dapo Abiodun for the giant strides taken so far to return Ogun State to the path of progress. May Almighty God continue upholding and uplifting you Sir.

Signed :

Comrade Olatunji Yusuf
